Bottled Water

As we now seem to be getting into our hot weather, it is important that people know the dangers of bottled water being left in the car. As we all know, when you leave your car parked and then return to it, the heat inside the car is sometimes unbearable. If you have left a bottle of water in your car for a time, the water gets quite hot, and, as we have all done, we drink it.
This has now proven to be very dangerous. Under normal circumstances, when bottled water is stored, after a period of only 3 months, the plastic of the bottle will give off toxins in the water. This in turn will cause upset tummies and diahorrea. When left in heat, the toxins become dioxins, which can cause breast cancer. The answer is, DO NOT store water in plastic bottles. Water should only be stored in glass containers.
The answer to all the problems is not to buy bottled water.
Have a water filter fitted which comes straight from the mains. The water in La Marina and surrounding areas is quite good. A lot of people drink it straight from the tap. Must admit I have never tried drinking the local water, but have often been told that local spanish people do drink it.

Would be interested to hear from other locals on this subject.

Plus any opinions on these often used filters.

BUS STATION IN ALMORADI

Hello to you all,
Can anyone inform us if there is a timetable for the Buses, where I can get one and if there is a bus route that operates a service within Almoradi. Would appreciate your help! Thank you

If you go to the bus station in Almoradi, you will see all times posted up for buses to Guadamar, Torrevieqa, Elche etc. I am sure they also have printed copies in the office there. There used to be a bus service that went thru Almoradi but as far as I know this service was stopped. Other members may have more info.

Thank you very kindly for the information. It is just that my family are coming over in August and they will not be hiring a car and wanted to know what the public transport was like and where they could go. Much appreciated.

you don't say where you want to go? anyway, torrevieja local buses are operated by Costa Azul www.costazul.net and they have all the timetables. Hope your spanish is ok!

Thank you very much Peter, this is so helpful. Not going anywhere in particular but we have family coming over in August and they will not be hiring a car so really wanted to know where they could get to from Torrevieja.
