Song and Dance Spectacular
Song and Dance Spectacular charity concert, will take place at the Casa de Cultura theatre in Pilar de la Horadada on Thursday 17th November starting at 7.30pm. All proceeds from the concert will be divided between the AECC and Campoverde Anglican Church. We know times are tough for us all, but particularly for charities who rely solely on our donations. So we hope that you will support this fund raising event in your usual way. Opening the show will be the smooth harmonizing sound of The Velvetones Ladies Chorus, followed by the medal winning Ladies Quartet Fenix. We then have a brilliant display of Latin American dancing by the children of the Club de Baile Horadance. If you think “Strictly come dancing” is good, wait till you see this performance. Following this display, you will then be treated to the dramatic flamenco dancing of Francisca and Antonio of Al Andalus Completing the concert we have the medal winning and ever popular Torrevieja Barbershop Harmonisers. Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for peace and freedom we enjoy toady. This year the Orihuela Costa service will be held on Sunday 13 November at at the Capilla de las Mil Palmeras in the diocese of Pilar de la Horadada - next to the Olympia Restaurant. The service is 10.30am for a prompt start at 10.40am. After the Remembrance Service, Wreaths and Crosses will be laid in the Garden of Remembrance. This memorial was built in the church grounds by members of The Orihuela Costa and District Branch in October 2010.
The formal laying of wreaths ceremony will be followed by a march past of Standards, members of ex-service organisations and ex-service men and women to the Olympia Restaurant where pre-lunch drinks and lunch will be served.
During the last few years , since its inception, this event has proved immensely popular. Attended by the Mayors of Orihuela, Pillar de la Horadada, the British Consul and the Military Attache. They have decided an alarm system might be a good idea, This poor woman is more than upset by the fact that her mobile phone and purse were taken from her bedside table while she slept less than a foot away. All to often we get called to fit or extend systems after people have been broken into.
