So many of us can tend to focus on the negative things in life and what we cannot do, not what we can do; on what we do not have, not what we do have. The: “What Makes You Happy?” Book Project is the start of something big that I want to continue and grow, so that it enriches people’s lives and touches the masses, not just a few. This is all about you and what makes you feel happy, which in turn, when others read will bring enlightenment to them and make them think about what makes them happy too. Like attracts like! Therefore positivity attracts positivity. To contribute you can post what makes you happy* (anything from one word, to a sentence up to a whole paragraph!) on here. After many years away from Spain. (We first lived in this area in the mid seventies) We are really enjoying rediscovering all our old haunts and reestablishing contacts with local trades people and picking up old friendships. This evening we went to Pizzaria La Cabaña in San Pedro and were gratified to meet up with the owner Wolfgang who is the son of the original owners Wolfgang and Helga who started out with their first Pizzaria in Torrevieja - when it really was a small fishing village - and then moved to San Pedro in the early 80s. The decor is still the same charming and quirky style that Helga designed. The ensalada especial still has its wonderful creamy sauce and the pizzas are thin and crispy as they ought to be, thanks to the state-of-the-art ovens that were used from the very start and the pizza bases still sport a wide range of generous toppings. The tiramisu was freshly made and delicious and so was the coffee and the waitress Victoria is the same woman I knew many years ago, married to the original cook who still works there. I looooove continuity and consistency.

Gazpacho time
Although I am perfectly capable of making Gazpacho myself,I find it is hardly worth the slog for just two people when 'Alvalle' make such a splendid gazpacho that really tastes just as good as the one I make myself (learned from a Spanish neighbour aback in the 70's) However some years ago my husband discovered that 'Alvalle' make a traditional almond Gazpacho that we had discovered and enjoyed in Granada back in the 70s again I can make it myself but it is a lot of work. For several years we would come on holiday and buy our Gazpachos but lately the almond one has become more difficult to find and this year we couldn't find it in any of the large supermarkets.... but hooray!! Consum in San Pedro de Pinatar carries it and we have been enjoying it almost every day. It must be served icy cold with little bits of Gala melon chopped into tiny bits mmm! mmmmmm! Actually Alvalle make a whole range of refreshing cold soups but the Gazpacho Original served with little bits of red and green pepper, cucumber, spring onion and freshly made croutons and the Gazpacho de Almendras Ajoblanco with bits of melon and /or grapes are sublime. My daughter loves the Salmorejo served with little bits of ham and hard boiled egg and my son will eat any of the cold soups we care to put in front of him!!! http://www.alvalle.es
